THE STORY
Casa di Sofia was born from an ambitious project to enhance an ancient rural farmhouse in Piedmont. The structure, built in solid brick with the characteristic narrow-plan design typical of local agricultural architecture, was the subject of a philological recovery that preserved its historical soul while equipping it with every comfort.
Exposed beams, terracotta floors, hand-worked wrought iron and period furniture alternate with Smeg kitchens, KitchenAid cookware and high-quality finishes — a dialogue between epochs that returns to guests an authentic experience, without giving up anything.
The ancient charm and high-quality materials embrace contemporary comfort.
The narrow-plan design is a rare advantage: it allows every room to enjoy a double view, on the exclusive property of 15,000 sqm on one side, and on the vineyards and the village of Calosso on the other.
On clear days, the apartments on the upper floor - both equipped with a private panoramic terrace - offer a view of the entire Alpine arc and the Monte Rosa massif.
THE LOCATION
Casa di Sofia is located in Calosso, in the province of Asti, on the hill of San Siro at 400 meters above sea level. A central position with respect to the three major hill systems of southern Piedmont: Langhe, Monferrato and Roero.
The structure is located a few kilometers from the most famous villages in the area and from the most important cellars in Italy, while enjoying a privacy and a quiet that is difficult to find elsewhere.
The road is convenient: Alba is 25 km away, Asti is 22 km away, the A21 Turin-Piacenza highway is easily accessible. Turin Caselle airport is about 80 km away.

THE VILLAGE
Calosso is a village of just over a thousand inhabitants perched on the hills of Astesana, at an altitude of 400 meters, on the border between the municipalities of Canelli, Santo Stefano Belbo, Costigliole d'Asti and Agliano Terme. A suspended place, where time seems to be marked by the rhythm of the seasons and the care of the vineyards.
The village is dominated by a castle built in the High Middle Ages, just before the year 1000, and by the church of San Martino, a Baroque building from the late 17th century. The narrow streets, the crotin, the characteristic cellars dug into the tuff and the panoramic views compose a landscape that does not change.
In the third weekend of October, the Fiera dei Rapulé animates the village with a unique itinerant food and wine event: in the residents' houses it is possible to taste the typical dish of the late harvest and taste the wines of the territory.
UNESCO Heritage
The hills of Langhe, Monferrato and Roero were recognized as a World Heritage Site in 2014 for their exceptional landscape and cultural value.
